Dear Rock Family
Over the last few weeks, I've seen people moved, challenged and motivated to support the Pervasive Hope campaign in ways I never dreamed of. There is the couple who committed to give 10% of the sale of their home, which is currently on the market. And the woman who could not commit to three years of giving, but instead gave all she had saved for something else, because she felt called to. We even had a homeless man who committed to give $10. And the stories keep coming in. The step of faith required to take such action encourages me that God is already working to transform the lives and hearts of our community, starting with our own Rock family.
This Sunday, April 1, we will sow our First Fruits offering of our three-year commitment together. While the amount of each commitment is private, the action of everyone giving their first fruits together in public will be glorious. We pray a movement of hope will begin to grow starting this Sunday. I'm talking about the kind of hope that sends a message to the world that Jesus is alive, available and ready to change lives.
We have encouraged you to pray with your family about what your financial commitment to the Pervasive Hope campaign will be. As God has personally challenged me to give a certain amount, He may have pressed a certain number on your heart, as well. First Fruits Sunday on April 1, or any day in April, will be the day you give the first cash gift towards that commitment…an investment of faith and hope to the future. Watch and see what He does with it. It will be spectacular.
Throughout the month of April, you may give your First Fruits contribution online or make a new commitment, if you haven't done so already, at www.sdrock.com/give/pervasivehope, in-service or by mail to Rock Church, Attn: Pervasive Hope, 2277 Rosecrans Street, SD, CA 92106. Be sure to write "Pervasive Hope" in the memo line of your check.
