Dear Rock Church,

We started this church together 13 years ago and it's been an incredible blessing and challenge as we've faithfully responded to God's calling on our lives to bless our County for Christ. The profound responsibility of serving a County like San Diego has required an unrelenting energy, vision and unwavering devotion by the Rock staff, volunteers, and each person who calls the Rock home. Together we've made an impact that has changed thousands of lives.

As your Pastor, I have taken on the challenge and responsibility to lead this vision with every ounce of energy in my body. And while I am continually amazed at what God has done, I know He has much more to accomplish in the days ahead. But to continue on this journey with a clear vision, I know that a break is needed. I have felt a strong challenge from the Lord to take a breath and to rest for a few months. I will be on Sabbatical from June 1st to August 31st.

During my Sabbatical, I will be focused on seeking a time of renewal with God for the purpose of refueling and reconnecting. I will fill my time reading, studying Spanish, traveling, spending time with family, praying, and intentionally unplugging from my day-to-day leadership duties at the Rock.

I would greatly appreciate it if you remember my family and me in your prayers. Also, please pray for the Rock's leadership while I'm away. And, please continue to fulfill the mission of the Rock Church by reaching out to the lost, inviting friends to church, and honoring the call Christ has placed on your life. We've created an amazing summer lineup of guest speakers and worship bands to bless, encourage, and challenge you every week.

Thank you all for your love and support of my family and for the Rock Church. I'm eager to see how God will use this time to bring more people into relationship with Him.
